Finally Getting My Act Together

I’m so happy to be back posting on my blog.  This summer had so many unexpected twists and turns, but we are all back on track now.  The one thing that has kept me sane was knitting.  I’ve finished two pairs of socks, worked on my Featherweight Cardigan, and I’ve almost completed the Random Act of Color Shawl. There’s also been a bit of sewing.  We even took a vacation to Maine and I got to visit the Knitwit Yarn Shop.  I was so happy to get enough yarn for a sweater.  We also added a new kitten to our family!  He’s so adorable and such a good boy.  Everyone is now back at school and we are still trying to get back into a routine.

I have actually finished these socks, but never took at picture.  I love the colors from Nomadic Yarns.  This is the McGonagall colorway.

This yarn is also from Nomadic Yarns in the In Bloom colorway.

I’ve only made a bit of progress on my Featherweight Cardigan.  I just have a few rows left before I put the sleeves on scrap yarn.  Hopefully it will move a bit faster once that’s done.

This is my Random Act of Color shawl by Debbie Reece and Amy Meeks.  I’ve had these colors sitting together for such a long time and I know that I wanted to use them in a shawl.  This was the perfect pattern.img_1294

This was our view from the top of the mountain where we stayed in Denmark, Maine.  It was so lovely.  The house had a large deck on the second floor so sitting outside made you feel like you were in a tree house.

We took a ride to North Conway, New Hampshire to go to Diana’s Bath for a day.  The weather was beautiful and it was the perfect day to get wet because it was so hot.

While in Maine we drove to so many little towns and came across Norway, Maine.  When I saw the yarn shop, Fiber and Vine, I had to go in.  I bought these two skeins of yarn for some socks (such a pretty color) and I fell in love with these buttons.  The shop was beautiful and they sold wine.  How perfect!  They also made felting supplies.img_1310

Of course we had to go to Portland to visit Knitwit Yarn Shop.  I purchased a sweater’s quantity of yarn from Quince and Co. to make the Virgil sweater from Caitlin Hunter.  I can’t wait to cast on!img_1356

I couldn’t leave without getting this mug as well.img_1390-1

I’ve been sewing some things lately to put in my Etsy shop.  I love this print on the bag!  I even made some needle cozies with this same fabric.img_1382

The kids are back to school.  I’m not one to wish the kids back to school because I love them being home. I feel like they are so grown up. (9th & 7th grade)img_1373

We also added someone to our family.  My son has wanted a cat for a long time.  We found this beautiful boy at our local shelter and needed to bring him home.

Joining Ginny!
